Bao Zhen Zhu

I haven’t tried proper brown sugar pearls in China yet so when I saw this store specialising in them, I wanted to try.

Drink: Peach Oolong Milk Tea

Rating: B. A light tea, with subtle floral notes followed by malty hints. The pearls were definitely the highlight and what brings the drink to a B. Very well cooked, I couldn’t fault their chewy texture. They also had a very palpable brown sugar flavour and sweetness, which isn’t easy to achieve. The flavour possessed the complexity of brown sugar.
